India became the third ‘major power’ country in Lowy Institute’s Asia Power Index 2025 on the basis of Operation Sindoor. India achieved this success by leaving behind the two big powers of Asia, Japan and Russia. America and China are in the top-2.
Asia Power Index: On the basis of its excellent performance in Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, India has got the third rank in the Asia Power Index. Along with this, India has also got the status of ‘Major Power’. Lowy Institute has given this ranking to India in one of its studies. Let us tell you that the names of America and China are in the first two positions of ‘Superpower’.
Last year India was included in the ‘Middle Powers’
Earlier in 2024, India was ranked among the ‘Middle Powers’ with a comprehensive score of 38.1, while in this year’s report India got a score of 40 out of 100. This is higher than Japan and Russia, which are ranked fourth and fifth with scores of 38.8 and 32.1. However, there is still a big gap in India’s score compared to China. China got 73.7 points, while America got 80.5 points.
