PM Modi Unveils 77 Feet Lord Rama Statue: Prime Minister Modi has unveiled the 77 feet high huge bronze statue of Lord Shri Ram by pressing the remote button in the ‘Sardh Panch Shatabdi Manotsav’, the 550th year celebration of Shri Sansthan Gokarna Portuguese Jeevottam Math. During this he said that this occasion is very historic. Over the past hundreds of years, this monastery has faced many changes and challenges. Despite this, it remained on its course. Today this monastery has become a spiritual center that guides the society.

Statue made under the guidance of famous sculptor Ram Sutar
This statue, installed in the picturesque environment of Goa, has been prepared under the direction of the famous sculptor Ram Sutar of Noida. He is the one who played an important role in the construction of Sardar Patel’s Statue of Unity in Gujarat. Not only this statue, Ramayana theme park and Shri Ram Museum are also being developed here.
Historical importance of the Portuguese monastery established in 1656
There was a long standing demand to install the statue of Shri Ram in Gokarna Portuguese Math. This is an important religious place of Saraswat Brahmin community. Which was established by Shri Ramchandra Tirtha in the year 1656. Here Lakshman and Sita Maa are worshiped along with Shri Ram. There are 33 branches of this monastery in India. The 550th anniversary of this monastery will continue till December 31, in which Ram Naam chanting, Bhajan week, special puja and 11-day festival will be organised.
