The auction for the new season of the Indian Premier League is to be held on 16 December. Everyone is waiting for this because then we will know which new players are in which team. But before this, another auction has now caught the attention of the fans. Especially Indian cricket fans, because for the first time an Indian player has sent his name for this league. This is Bangladesh Premier League, in which players are going to be auctioned after many years and for the first time an Indian cricketer has got his name registered in it. This player is leg spinner Piyush Chawla.

Piyush Chawla will enter BPL auction

After 12 years, auction is being organized for players in Bangladesh T20 League. There will be an auction of players for this 6-team tournament on November 30 and 245 foreign players have registered for it. But former leg spinner of Team India Piyush Chawla caught everyone’s attention. This is the first time when an Indian player seems to be a contender to play in BPL.

36 year old Piyush Chawla had announced his complete retirement from Indian cricket in June 2025 itself. That is, along with international cricket, he had also decided to distance himself from domestic Indian cricket and IPL. The effect of this is that they are now playing in foreign leagues and because of this they are entering the BPL auction. BCCI has strict rules for Indian players that as long as they are active in Indian cricket including IPL, they cannot play in any other foreign league.

These players have played in foreign leagues

Chawla has fulfilled all these conditions and hence he will now be seen playing in BPL. He is not the first Indian to play in a foreign league. Before him, players like Dinesh Karthik, Praveen Tambe, Unmukt Chand have also played in foreign leagues after retirement, but this is the first time that an Indian has entered BPL. Piyush, who played 35 international matches for Team India, was a part of the 2011 World Champion team. He also played a big role in the success of Kolkata Knight Riders who won the IPL in 2014.
