Salman, accused of raping a 6 year old girl, was arrested in Goharganj. He was shot in the leg in an encounter while trying to escape from police custody. He has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Bhopal: The accused arrested in the case of alleged rape of a 6-year-old girl in Goharganj was injured in an encounter with Madhya Pradesh Police on Friday. Raisen Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashutosh Gupta said, the accused named Salman tried to run away by snatching a sub-inspector’s gun, after which he was shot in the leg and was taken to the hospital for treatment. This encounter took place between 4 and 5 am on Friday morning.
SP Ashutosh Gupta said, “Salman was arrested from Gandhinagar area and was being taken to Raisen. Meanwhile, the police vehicle broke down in the area of Kiratnagar village near Bhojpur. Salman tried to escape by snatching the sub-inspector’s gun and firing at the police. In the retaliatory firing, Salman was shot in the leg. He was taken to Jai Prakash Hospital in Bhopal for first aid.”
The car suddenly got punctured..the accused snatched the gun and started running away
Obaidullaganj Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Sheela Surana said, further action will be taken based on his treatment and doctors’ advice. He was being taken into police custody to Gauharganj. During this time our car suddenly got punctured. He snatched our sub-inspector’s gun, started running away and fired at them. The police then fired at him, and he was injured. We will take further action based on the advice of doctors. This incident happened between 4 and 5 in the night.”
Salman had committed brutality by luring him with chocolate
According to the police, the incident took place on November 21 in Goharganj police station area, where the minor was playing outside her house. The accused named Salman lured her with chocolate, took her to the forest and raped her. The girl was found in a nearby forest area and was immediately taken to Obaidullaganj Hospital, where doctors confirmed rape. He was referred to Bhopal AIIMS.
