Big relief to farmers of UP: 40,521 solar pumps will be available on subsidy under PM Kusum Yojana

UP government will give 40,521 solar pumps on subsidy to farmers in 2025-26 under PM Kusum Yojana. Registration will be on the website of the Agriculture Department till December 15. The central and state governments are jointly giving grants worth lakhs of rupees on different HP pumps.

Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government will provide 40,521 solar pumps on subsidy to the Annadata farmers of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana in the year 2025-26. To avail the benefits, farmers will have to apply on the Agriculture Department website www.agriculture.up.gov.in by December 15. Only those farmers will get the benefit of the scheme, who will register on this portal. Selection will be done through e-lottery.

Grant will be received jointly from Central and State Government

The Agriculture Department will give subsidy to farmers on 9 types of solar pumps at different rates. This will include the share of both the central and state governments.

Subsidy on solar pumps (in brief):

a) 2 HP DC/AC Surface Pump

  • State Government: ₹56,737 – ₹56,737
  • Central Government: ₹41,856 – ₹41,856
  • Total grant: ₹98,593 – ₹98,593

b) 2 HP DC Submersible Pump: Total grant ₹1,00,215

c) 2 HP AC Submersible Pump: Total grant ₹99,947

d) 3 HP DC Submersible Pump: Total grant ₹1,33,621

e) 3 HP AC Submersible Pump: Total grant ₹1,32,314

  • State share: ₹77,618
  • Center share: ₹54,696

f) 5 HP AC Submersible Pump: Total grant ₹1,88,038

g) 7.5 HP AC and 10 HP AC Submersible Pump:

  • Total grant: ₹2,54,983
  • State share: ₹1,40,780
  • Center Share: ₹1,14,203

This grant significantly reduces farmers’ costs and helps them become self-reliant in irrigation.

Rs 5,000 token money mandatory for online booking

Farmers will have to book the pump online by visiting the link “Book Solar Pump for Subsidy”. They will have to deposit ₹5,000 token money at the time of booking. After the booking is confirmed, the farmer will receive the information on the registered mobile. After this, the farmer will have to deposit the remaining amount after the grant online.

6% interest relief on bank loan

If farmers take loan from the bank and deposit their share, then the Central and State Governments will provide a total interest rebate of 6% under the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund (AIF). This will further reduce the financial burden on farmers.

Take special care of the size of the boring and depth of water.

The Agriculture Department has given some important rules for the farmers before installing solar pumps:

  • For 2 HP: 4 Inch Boring
  • For 3 and 5 HP: 6 inch boring
  • For 7.5 and 10 HP: 8 inch boring

This boring will have to be done by the farmer himself. If boring is not found at the time of verification, token money will be confiscated and the application may also be cancelled.

Suitable pump capacity as per water level

  • Up to 22 ft: 2 HP Surface
  • Up to 50 ft: 2 HP Submersible
  • Up to 150 feet: 3 HP
  • Up to 200 feet: 5 HP
  • Up to 300 feet: 7.5 HP and 10 HP

The combined target of 2 HP and 3 HP will be visible on the portal. Farmers can select the pump as per their requirement.
