CM Yogi gave instructions to make ANTF more capable. Emphasis was laid on permanent staff deployment in the force, modern technology, court allocation and building construction. Seizures of large quantities of drugs and arrests of smugglers took place in 2023–25.
Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to make the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) more effective. In the review meeting held on Wednesday, he said that permanent deployment of necessary staff including inspectors, sub-inspectors, computer operators and constables in all 06 police stations and 08 units of the force should be completed soon. Besides, special training should also be given to the team.
Force will be equipped with modern equipment and technology
The Chief Minister directed that the ANTF should be equipped with modern equipment, digital tracking system and advanced technical resources, so that the action can be more fast and accurate.
Court allocation for proposed police stations should be completed soon
He said that the process of allotment of courts for the proposed police stations should be completed without any delay. This will ensure speedy trial of cases and strict action against criminals. Besides, emphasis was also laid on construction of permanent buildings for all the police stations of the force.
ANTF action progress so far
It was told in the meeting that there has been a significant increase in action since the formation of ANTF. Between 2023 and 2025, 310 cases were registered, 35,313 kg of illegal drugs were seized and 883 smugglers were arrested. The estimated value of the seized drugs is estimated to be more than Rs 343 crore.
Action against big networks and mafia also
It was also informed in the review meeting that along with general action, big drug networks and mafias have been continuously attacked. In the last three years, 2,61,391 kg of illegal drugs have been destroyed as per law, the estimated value of which is approximately Rs 775 crore. The Chief Minister said that the disposal process should continue in a regular and transparent manner.
Collective responsibility of society for de-addiction
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the fight against drugs is not just a matter of law and order, but a collective responsibility of the society. Families, educational institutions, civil organizations and administration will have to work together to ensure that drug addiction does not reach the youth. He said that criminals should get a clear message that illegal drug trade will not be tolerated in Uttar Pradesh.
