Mahindra Vision X Concept Unveiled – Is This The Next 3XO?

Indian SUV specialist Mahindra has unveiled the Vision X Concept at its Freedom NU event in Mumbai on Independence Day. The Mahindra Vision X concept has its eyes firmly set on the sub-4-metre SUV segment and shows off a sleeker, more urban-friendly shape than the brand’s current rugged models.

At the front, the Vision X’s design is sharp and layered. Slim LED DRLs sit high above the headlights giving the Vision X, a familiar two-tier layout.

The Vision X’s grille carries an X-shaped mesh pattern, which ties directly into the concept’s name while also makes the concept’s face instantly recognisable. The bonnet is a clamshell design with clean surface treatment and it flows smoothly towards the windscreen.

The Vision X;’s wheel arches are squared-off and wrapped in gloss-black cladding, while the roofline carries a floating effect thanks to darkened pillars and a light-coloured body.

In profile, the Mahindra Vision X’s stance is compact yet planted. The concept SUV features flush-fitting door handles that keep the airflow across the sides tidy.. The Vision X features short overhangs and a pronounced shoulder line that give it a confident look.

The rear section of the Vision X sees Mahindra really step up the sporty detailing game. The Vision X features a split spoiler setup that sits on top of the rear windscreen, and it also sports slim LED tail lamps are linked by a connecting light bar. The concept also features a chunky bumper that adds width and features a faux diffuser-style bash plate.

Underneath, Vision X rides on Mahindra’s nu.iq platform, shared with other new concepts like Vision T, Vision S, and Vision SXT. The platform is designed to take petrol, diesel, hybrid, or fully electric powertrains, giving engineers plenty of flexibility.

The Mahindra Vision X is expected to enter production either in 2028 or 2029 and could be a replacement for the current 3X0 SUV. IF it enters production, the Vision X will rival the likes of the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, and the Skoda Kylaq.
