Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reviewed schemes like empowerment of disabled people, barrier-free government buildings, employment, de-addiction campaign and smart classes and gave important instructions.
Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav held a review meeting of the Social Justice and Disability Empowerment Department on June 25. In the meeting, he said that to ensure convenience and independent movement of the disabled people, it is necessary to make all the government buildings of the state barrier-free. He also gave instructions to include necessary content related to disability in the school curriculum with the aim of developing sensitivity towards disability in children.
Instructions to all departments for coordinated efforts regarding de-addiction campaign
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that it is very important to make teenagers and youth aware of the ill effects of drug abuse in time. He directed all the concerned departments to work with mutual coordination to make the campaigns being run for de-addiction more effective. He suggested that material raising awareness against drugs should be included in the curriculum of schools and colleges, so that a positive environment can be created among the youth.
Special focus on employment and skill development of disabled people
In the meeting, the Chief Minister said that to provide more employment to the disabled people in the private sector, skill upgradation programs should be conducted as per their capabilities. He instructed the department to prepare a concrete action plan in this direction, so that the disabled people can become self-reliant and get respectable employment.
Plan to use donations from religious places for welfare purposes
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav directed to prepare an action plan to utilize the donations and materials received at major religious places of the state for providing food and other public welfare activities to the destitute, beggars and needy people at the local level.
Disabled people get assistive devices under Chief Minister’s Service Fortnight
Information about the progress of departmental schemes was presented in the meeting. It was told that under the Chief Minister Service Fortnight Campaign 2025, artificial limbs and assistive devices worth about Rs 6 crore 52 lakh have been made available to the disabled across the state.
168 smart classes and 12 thousand volunteers become the strength of the campaign
It was also informed in the review meeting that 168 smart classes have been prepared in the special schools run for the disabled people of the state. At the same time, under the Nashamukti Bharat Abhiyan, a network of 12 thousand volunteers has been created, who are making people aware about the ill effects of drug addiction.
Work will also be done on providing employment to the disabled and taking care of the elderly.
It was informed in the meeting that MoUs have been signed with institutions respected by the Government of India to make the disabled people self-reliant and provide employment. Through these institutions, employment has been provided to 12 disabled people. Apart from this, with the aim of improving the care of elderly people, 54 participants have been trained as caregivers.
Point wise review of departmental schemes
During the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav reviewed various schemes and programs run by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and gave necessary guidelines for their effective implementation.
