Birthday will be celebrated on 16 August
According to astrologers and almanac, this year the holy festival of Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on 16 August, Saturday. On this day, special events will be held in the temples of Mathura and Vrindavan along with the whole country. Ashtami Tithi starts from 11:49 pm on August 15 and it will conclude at 9:34 pm on August 16. Since Lord Krishna was born in midnight, it will be auspicious to celebrate his birth anniversary on the night of 16 August.
Why is Mathura-Vrindavan special?
Mathura is considered to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna and Vrindavan as his Leelabhoomi. Therefore, the celebration of Janmashtami is colored in a different color here. The birth anniversary of the birth anniversary of Mathura and the Banke Bihari temple of Vrindavan are made on seeing the shade of the birth anniversary.

On this day, sweets, fruits, toys and coins are distributed among the devotees in temples. On this day, the process of bhajan-kirtan starts from morning, which lasts till noon.
