Ingredients

  • White sesame seeds – 1 cup
  • Jaggery – 1 cup
  • Water – 2–3 tbsp
  • Coconut flakes – 2 tbsp
  • Almonds/cashews/pistachios (grated) – 2–3 tbsp
  • Small and big cardamom – 2-3 (crushed)
  • Ghee – half spoon
  • Butter paper – 1 sheet

Sesame Roll Recipe

1. Roast sesame seeds the right way

  • Clean white sesame seeds and dry roast them in a pan.
  • Roast them only so much that the sesame seeds become puffed up, not golden.
  • Roasting too much will result in burnt flavour.

2. Cool and make powder

  • Cool the sesame seeds completely.
  • Now grind it and make a light powder.
  • Note: Grinding hot sesame seeds releases oil and the sweets spoil quickly.

3. Prepare jaggery syrup

  • Make syrup by adding jaggery and some water in a pan.
  • When the jaggery melts, slow down the gas.

4. Add sesame powder

  • Now add sesame powder to the jaggery syrup and mix quickly.
  • Also add coconut shavings, grated dry fruits and crushed cardamom.

5. Prepare the rolls

  • Spread butter paper, apply some ghee on top and sprinkle some roasted sesame seeds.

6. Set and Cut

  • After 5-7 minutes, when the roll gets set, cut it into desired size and serve.
