Vilaayath Budha Box Office Collection: The Malayalam drama Vilaayath Budha, which arrived in cinemas on November 21, 2025, has completed its first Monday with a noticeable decline in collections.
The film, directed by Jayan Nambiar in his feature debut, is adapted from G. R. Indugopan’s novel of the same name and features Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shammi Thilakan in the lead roles.
Initially conceptualized by the late filmmaker Sachy in 2020, the adaptation underwent significant changes after his passing, with Jayan Nambiar taking charge of bringing the story to the screen. Set in Marayoor, the narrative focuses on Bhaskaran Master and his protege, Double Mohanan, who find themselves at odds over a valuable sandalwood tree. The film’s technical team includes cinematography by Arvind S. Kashyap ISC – Renadive, music by Jakes Bejoy, and editing by Sreejith Sarang.
According to early estimates from box office tracking platform Sacnilk, Vilaayath Budha has collected approximately ₹3.79 crore net in India over its first four days. The film opened with ₹1.7 crore on Friday, followed by a dip to ₹1 crore on Saturday, and a further decline to ₹0.75 crore on Sunday, indicating a weekend with incremental drops rather than growth. The sharpest fall came on Monday, with the film managing around ₹0.34 crore, a drop of more than 50% from its Sunday figures.
Vilaayath Budha – Day-wise Box Office Breakdown
Day 1 (Friday): ₹1.7 crore
Day 2 (Saturday): ₹1 crore
Day 3 (Sunday): ₹0.75 crore
Day 4 (Monday): ₹0.34 crore (rough data)
Total: ₹3.79 crore
The weekday dip suggests the film may face a challenging run ahead unless midweek footfall stabilizes. With multiple releases during the same frame, including competing titles in Malayalam cinema, the collection pattern reflects divided audience interest.
The film is produced by Sandip Senan and A. V. Anoop, with production design by Benglan, sound design by Ajayan Adat and Piousmon Sunny, and visual effects contributions from multiple studios, including Black Maria Studio and Accel Media. The ensemble cast includes Anu Mohan, Dhruvan, Kiran Peethambaran, Adat Gopalan, Pramod Veliyanadu, Vinod Thomas, and others.
As the film enters Day 5 today (Tuesday), the coming days will be crucial in determining its overall box office trajectory. With its performance so far leaning on the modest end, the midweek trend will indicate whether Vilaayath Budha can maintain steady occupancy before the second weekend.
