In recognition of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Donovan Mitchell’s exceptional efforts in Week 5 of the 2025-26 season, the NBA has announced their noteworthy accomplishments.
The fact that both players received Player of the Week awards for their respective conferences further cemented their standing as the league’s best guards.
Excellent Performances
In four games between November 17 and 23, 2025, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder averaged 31 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.3 rebounds. His outstanding three-point shooting percentage of 60% helped the Thunder win nine straight games. In the meantime, Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers helped his team win three of their four games with 31.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and five assists during the same time frame.
The NBA Communications X account confirmed the awards, stating, “Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell have been named the NBA Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively.”
Recognition of Excellence
Since his trade to the Cavaliers in 2022, Mitchell has won Player of the Week nine times. This honour, which is Gilgeous-Alexander’s seventh, highlights his steady play this season.
The announcement highlights the NBA’s depth of skill as both players continue to play vital roles in their teams’ victories. It’s unclear how many more honours these two outstanding players will receive as the season goes on before the regular season ends in April.
