Lucknow: Threat to blow up school and office in 24 hours, letter received from Lulu Mall

There was a stir after a threatening letter was found in the bathroom of Lulu Mall in Lucknow. The letter warned of bombing government buildings and schools within 24 hours. Police, bomb disposal squad and dog squad are on high alert and investigation is underway.

There was a stir in the capital Lucknow on Monday when a threatening letter was recovered from the bathroom of Lulu Mall located on Shaheed Path. This letter raised questions not only about the security of the mall but also about the system of the entire city. The letter warned of bombing government buildings and schools in Lucknow within 24 hours, after which the administration has come on high alert.

Letter found in the bathroom, no mention of any name, no mention of any organization

This threatening letter was found lying in a bathroom inside the mall. The surprising thing is that there is neither the name of any person nor any claim of any organization in it. As soon as the letter was received, the police was informed and the security arrangements of the entire mall were immediately tightened.

Police alert, security of mall and city increased

Taking the matter very seriously, Lucknow Police has strengthened the security arrangements across the city. ADCP (Central) Jitendra Dubey confirmed the threat and said that the bomb disposal squad has been put on alert.

  • With the help of dog squad, checking is going on at crowded places including malls.
  • Security has been increased at major government buildings, schools and sensitive places in the city.

The police is investigating all possible clues so that the person making the threat can be reached soon.

Police on high-alert mode, dog squad and bomb disposal squad deployed

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Jitendra Dubey confirmed that the letter threatened to blow up many prestigious buildings and schools of Lucknow. He said that intensive checking is being done by police, dog squad and BDS teams in many important areas including Hazratganj assembly. Vehicles, suspicious persons and suspicious objects are also being thoroughly checked.

Investigation of CCTV footage, increased security in eastern zone

On the other hand, efforts are being made to trace the person who kept the letter with the help of CCTV cameras. Under the direction of DCP (East) Shashank Singh, foot patrolling has been increased in crowded areas in the East Zone. Instructions have been issued to search suspicious vehicles, check public places and tighten security arrangements. Additional police forces have been deployed at all major government buildings, schools, markets and sensitive places in Lucknow.
