This is a great winter vegetable. This time you can make halwa from this winter special vegetable and eat it. Let’s see the recipe.

Ingredients of Matar Ka Halwa

To make halwa, you need one cup green peas, one-fourth cup desi ghee i.e. about 50 to 60 grams, sugar about 150 grams, mawa 150 grams, almonds 8-10, cashews 10-12. One teaspoon chopped pistachio, half teaspoon green cardamom powder.

Make green pea pudding like this

  • The first step is to wash the peas, put them in a mixer jar and grind them coarsely. In this way the pudding will become grainy.
  • Cut the mawa into small pieces and fry them in a pan on low flame while stirring continuously. When the mawa smells good and the color becomes slightly golden, take it out in a plate.
  • After the mawa is roasted, add two spoons of desi ghee in the pan and then add coarsely ground peas in it. Stir it with a ladle and fry it until the color changes.
  • When the aroma starts coming from the peas while roasting, then understand that your peas have been roasted well.
  • Add half cup milk to peas and also add sugar, then cook it till the sugar dissolves and the milk dries up. Keep in mind that it has to be cooked on very low flame.
  • In another pan, after roasting almonds, cashews and pistachios in desi ghee, crush them and then add it to the halwa and mix it. Along with this also add cardamom.
  • Now add roasted mawa to the prepared pea pudding. If you want, you can save some mawa and nuts for garnish.

Keep these tips in mind

  • You can increase or decrease the sugar in halwa, it depends on your preference.
  • When you are frying mawa and peas, you have to keep stirring it and keep the flame low so that it does not stick to the pan, otherwise a burning smell will start coming.
  • You can use a non-stick pan to fry both these things, because the food does not stick to it.
