4 year old Aarohi laughed after seeing Aayi Baba, how a girl kidnapped from Mumbai was found in Banaras, 1500 KM away.

4 year old Aarohi went missing from Mumbai station on 20 May 2025. Found in Varanasi after about 6 months. Mumbai Police identified him on November 13 through Operation Soshdh. On 14 November, Aarohi was able to meet her parents again in Mumbai.

Mumbai Girl Aarohi Kidnapped Story: On the night of May 20, 2025, a 4-year-old little girl wearing a light pink colored frock slept in her mother’s lap at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai. His parents are from a very simple family of Solapur, who came to Mumbai for his father’s treatment. They were tired and mother closed her eyes just for a moment. But when he opened his eyes, his daughter was missing.

Someone please return my Aarohi..

For about six months, the girl’s parents made several trips to the police station. Constantly searched Mumbai’s local trains, slums, orphanages and by showing distorted photographs of the daughter to strangers. The father did not sleep for many days in search of the girl, the mother also did not eat food. Only one name used to come out of both of their mouths all the time… Aarohi, someone bring my Aarohi.

In an orphanage in Banaras, the girl used to say ‘I just came’

In Varanasi, about 1500 km from Mumbai, a little girl, who did not remember her real name, was teaching herself to say “Kashi”. She was found crying near a railway track, barefoot and frightened, in June 2025. After this the orphanage gave him food, bed and a new name. She smiled easily, as babies always do, but sometimes at night she would hold the edge of her blanket and say “Come.” She used to call her mother Aai in Marathi, but no one was able to understand.

Mumbai Police launched Operation Research in search of Aarohi

Here, in Mumbai, the police printed posters of Aarohi missing and pasted them on every platform from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus to Bhusaval and Varanasi Cantt. They placed ads in newspapers, begged for help from journalists. Six months is a long time for hope to remain alive. However, some police officers used to keep Aarohi’s photo in their shirt pockets as if she was their own daughter. Police launched Operation Research to search for Aarohi.

On November 13, parents saw a glimpse of Aarohi in their laptop.

On 13 November, a local reporter in Varanasi saw the poster of Aarohi. He understood something. He saw a girl who was speaking Marathi words in her sleep. He called and the next morning a policeman in Varanasi was sitting in front of a laptop and opened a video call. A little girl wearing a pink frock appeared on the screen. It was the same dress she was wearing on the day she disappeared. A mother standing behind a policeman in Mumbai saw her daughter and fell down without making a sound. During this the father said, this is my Aarohi… this is my child….

Aarohi was brought from Banaras to Mumbai on 14 November.

Here, the very next day i.e. on 14 November 2025, when the plane landed at Mumbai Airport, the Crime Branch was already waiting for it. They had bought her balloons and a new frock, which was turquoise in colour. But as soon as the girl came out of the plane, she saw a large number of people in khaki uniform. After this he did something which no one expected. She quickly ran towards those policemen.

As soon as she saw the policeman, Aarohi fell into his lap.

Aarohi spread her arms while shaking her little legs and fell into the lap of the police officer standing nearby. After this, the smile seen on his face would melt anyone’s heart. The police officer lifted Aarohi up and hugged her. She also hugged him as if he was a member of her family and Aarohi had known him for a long time.

Tears welled up from the eyes of Aarohi’s parents.

Aarohi’s parents were crying loudly with joy. Later the police took the daughter to her parents. Mother repeatedly touched and kissed her face, as if she was checking whether it was her own daughter or not. At the same time, the father sat down on his knees and placed his forehead on his daughter’s small feet and while sobbing said some words which perhaps no one except God could understand.

The darkness of 6 months has vanished like this..

And the little girl? She just kept smiling. She kept looking at her parents and the policemen again and again, probably unaware that she had turned the entire police station into a crying, laughing, praying family. The darkness of six months had vanished just like the fog after the sunrise in the morning. Aarohi had now come to her home. Now a mother is singing lullabies again. Today, a father is smiling in his sleep. Khaki uniforms don’t just catch thieves. Sometimes it also brings lost children back to the hearts of their mothers.
