Margashirsha Shukla Panchami is observed as Vivah Panchami. It is believed that on this day, Lord Ram married Goddess Sita. For this reason, the day is celebrated as Shri Ram’s wedding festival.
Lord Ram is considered a symbol of consciousness, while Goddess Sita represents the power of nature. Therefore, this divine union of consciousness and nature is regarded as extremely sacred.
Vivah Panchami Date
According to Panchang, Margashirsha Shukla Panchami will begin on 24 November at 9:22 pm and will end on 25 November at 10:56 pm. Hence, Vivah Panchami is observed on Tuesday, 25 November.
Shubh Muhurat for Vivah Panchami
On Vivah Panchami, there are three separate periods considered most favourable for performing puja. According to the Drik Panchang, Brahma Muhurta will be from 4:20 am to 4:59 am, which is ideal for donation and ritual bathing. Then, Abhijit Muhurta will fall between 11:47 am and 12:29 pm. Finally, Godhuli Muhurta will be from 7:44 pm to 8:44 pm. Any of these three periods are considered highly auspicious for worship.
A Day to Remove Obstacles in Marriage
If your marriage is getting delayed, then Vivah Panchami is an auspicious day to remove obstacles. Worshipping Lord Ram and Sita on this day helps remove hindrances related to marriage and can lead to finding a desired life partner. Performing puja on Vivah Panchami can also help ease problems in married life. Reciting the wedding episode from the Balakanda or reading the entire Ramcharitmanas brings happiness and harmony to the family.
How to Perform the Ram-Sita Wedding Ritual
Take the vow of Ram and Sita’s wedding on Vivah Panchami. Puja should be done early in the morning. Dress Lord Ram in yellow and Goddess Sita in red.
