Veteran actor Dharmendra passed away in Mumbai at the age of 89. The demise of ‘He-Man’, who had a career spanning 6 decades, has been described as an irreparable loss for Indian cinema. Many leaders including Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi expressed condolences.

Mumbai : Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday remembered the brilliant journey of Bollywood actor Dharmendra, who left the world in Mumbai at the age of 89. He expressed his condolences to Dharmendra’s family. Amit Shah wrote, “The demise of Dharmendra ji, who touched the hearts of every countryman for 6 decades with his excellent acting, is an irreparable loss for the Indian cinema world. Coming from an ordinary family, he made an indelible mark in the film world. Dharmendra ji was one of the few actors who brought alive the character he touched and with this art, he won the hearts of millions of viewers of all ages. The ‘He-Man’ of Indian cinema was unwell for some time. On November 10, Dharmendra was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after his health deteriorated. Two days later, Dharmendra was discharged from the hospital as the family opted for “home treatment”. The actor was last seen in the 2024 film ‘Teri Baton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’. In the film, he played the role of Shahid Kapoor’s grandfather. The family has not yet revealed the reason for the actor’s demise.
