TVS Apache RTR 180 Launched In Kenya – Here Is What This Bike Offers

TVS Motor Company has taken another major step to expand its footprint in the global market by launching the TVS Apache RTR 180 in Kenya.

This marks an important milestone for the brand, especially as TVS celebrates 20 years of its Apache series. This launch is interesting not just because of the bike itself, but also because it shows how Indian two-wheeler manufacturers are growing their reach across the world.

The new Apache RTR 180 has been introduced as part of TVS Motor’s plan to strengthen its premium motorcycle lineup in East Africa and the company continues to work closely with Car & General, which is its long-standing distribution partner in the region. The motorcycle will be available across 12 dealerships in Kenya, with a price tag of KES 269,990, which makes it an attractive option in the premium commuter segment in the country.

The Apache RTR 180 is equipped with a 177.4cc single-cylinder engine, which is capable of producing 15 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 14.1 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Paired with a 5-speed gearbox, the bike promises both efficiency and spirited performance which are the qualities that Apache family is known for. TVS has equipped the motorcycle with disc brakes, race-tuned suspension, LED headlamps and tubeless tyres with a wider rear tyre for better grip. Customers in Kenya can choose from four colour options – Pearl White, Matte Blue, Gloss Black and Matte Grey.

This year is especially significant for TVS, as the company marks two decades of the Apache brand, which is now sold in more than 60 countries. Over the years, the Apache has built a large community of riders due to its racing-inspired technology and everyday usability, and as TVS says the Apache series represents its core philosophy of bringing “track to street” performance.

Beyond new models, TVS Motor is continuing to invest heavily in innovation as the company has increased its R&D spending from Rs 495 crore in FY 2022-23 to Rs 1,025 crore in FY 2024-25. More than 2,000 engineers and experts are currently working on cleaner, smarter and more connected mobility solutions. The brand’s global expansion continues steadily as the TVS products are now sold in over 90 countries, including Asia, Africa, Latin America and even newer markets in Europe.

Speaking about the Kenya launch, Peyman Kargar, President, International Business at TVS Motor, said that ‘Kenya is a key market for the company’. He also highlighted that Kenya’s growing riding culture and strong urban development make it the perfect stage for the Apache RTR 180. He added that TVS is committed to offering performance-led, durable and premium mobility solutions to African customers.
