AIIMS Research on Fatty Liver:Nowadays obesity and fatty liver disease is making people a victim very fast. The reason behind which we consider wrong food and drink. But a research of doctors of Delhi AIIMS, Delhi AIIMS has come out on this matter. In which he gave a new perspective of understanding diseases like obesity and flying liver. This research British Journal Nature Is printed in
This research states that the disease of fatty liver disease related to obesity, which is also called Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). The reason for which is not only due to food or weight gain, but also with the weakening of our body’s immune system and inflammation in the body. And this inflammation leads to a dangerous level of fatty liver disease.
AIIMS Additional Professor Dr. Shyam Prakash and his team did this study between 2021 and 2024It included 250 patients, including both thick and obese patients. In the study, patients were divided into three groups. The first group had patients with diabetes. In the second group, there were patients with metabolic syndrome with diabetes and NAFLDs, which were obese and who did not have obesity, were both patients with both types of conditions.
What are the good and bad protein of the body
The investigation revealed a shocking thing. In obese NAFLD patients, a good protein named PK-1 was found very rarely which keeps the immune system strong and in balance. At the same time, there was a high amount of bad protein like PK-2 and Fabp-5, which increases inflammation in the body and further the disease. Not only this, the number of T-Regulatory cells in obese patients also found very low which controls the body and keep the immune system balanced.
Anti-inflammatory factor and immune cell connection
The study also found that an anti-inflammatory factor named IL-10 makes positive changes with some immune cells. This means that when the IL-10 increases, the inflammation decreases and the immune system is better. But due to obesity and wrong eating, this balance deteriorates. Dr. Shyam Prakash says that this imbalance of obesity and immune system can gradually change the NAFLD into a dangerous form. First the disease turns into Nash (Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis), then liver cirrhosis and finally liver cancer. Globally, it is estimated that about 8 to 9% of patients may need liver transplant in the coming time.
Fatty liver can also be in thin people
Here the worry is not just about obese people, if the disease can happen to those people, it is not obese. Those who are not fat also take high sugar, high fat diet for a long time. Exercise is not included in lifestyle, due to which fat is included in the liver. Due to which their immune system deteriorates. According to Dr. Prakash, pizza, burger, fried food, sweet drinks and habits of sitting are major reasons for this disease.
The biggest advantage of this research is that now doctors have a chance to make new targeted treatment and lifestyle modification plans for NAFLD. If people improve food and drink in time, do regular exercise and keep weight control, then serious condition like liver cancer can be avoided. This study of AIIMS can change the lives of millions of people in the coming time.
