The author of Ravana Samhita was none other than Lankapati Ravana. According to a section of Ravana Samhita, Lord Shri Ram and his monkey army reached Lanka in search of Mother Sita. At that time he thought that a yagya should be performed for the blessings and victory of Mahadev, the god of gods. He was looking for a learned Pandit to conduct the Yagya and make it successful.
In Treta Yuga, there was no greater devotee and scholar of Shiva than Ravana. Ram ji himself had sent an invitation to Ravana to perform a yagya for his victory. Being a great devotee of Lord Shiva, Ravana had accepted the invitation of Ram ji. At that time, Ravana did not see Ram ji as his enemy and performed his yagya. After the yagya was over, Ravana started going to Lanka when Ram ji stopped him.
Ravana had blessed Ram ji
After this Ram ji sought blessings from Ravana for victory in the war. Ravana blessed Ram ji by saying Amen. After this, during the war, Ram ji killed Ravana and won over him. It is also mentioned in some scriptures that Ravana did not know that the enemy was going to perform a yagya. It is also said that Ravana knew that his end would be at the hands of Ram. He performed the yagya and followed his religion.
