Who founded the Ramanandi sect?
According to historians, the Ramanandi sect was founded by Jagatguru Shri Ramanandacharya ji. This sect is one of the 4 ancient sects of Bairagis. Bairagi of Ramanandi sect is also known as Ramavat and Shri sect. There is also an ancient monastery of Ramanandi sect at Panchganga Ghat in Kashi. This is also their main centre. The main mantra of Ramanandi sect is Om Ramay Namah. Sages, saints, priests, sannyasis etc. associated with this sect apply Shuklashri, Bindushri and Raktashri tilak, due to which they are easily identified.
