New Delhi: As India celebrates its 79th Independence Day, the Indian cricket fraternity united to extend wishes to fellow Indian citizens. Indian cricket team’s head coach Gautam Gambhir led the wishes with a patriotic message in a social media post. Gambhir, whose cricketing journey has been interwoven with his love and passion for the country, shared a short but powerful message.
August 15 is a special day for Indians across the globe, as it not only marks the day when the country gained independence, but it is also a reminder of the sacrifices made by many who fought for India’s freedom. It is a day to celebrate the resilience, courage, unity and the incredible determination shown by India’s freedom fighters.
With the tricolour being hoisted across the nation and people celebrating the spirit of freedom and togetherness, the Indian cricket fraternity also took to social media to extend their best wishes on Independence Day. From Gambhir to India’s ODI skipper Rohit Sharma and the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, former and present Indian cricketers shared their wishes.
“My country, my identity, my life! Jai Hind,” Gambhir wrote in a post on X with a picture of the tricolour in the stands from his playing days. His powerful message resonated with the fans. Meanwhile, India’s ODI skipper Rohit Sharma shared a picture of himself holding the Indian flag after India’s T20 World Cup triumph last year.
