WhatsApp Safety Alert: WhatsApp is bringing a new safety feature, which will help in preventing cyber fraud. It will warn users on messages coming from unknown numbers. This will include the country of the number and advice on avoiding fraud.
WhatsApp Security Feature:One of the most popular messaging platforms, WhatsApp is constantly introducing new features to further strengthen the privacy and security of its users. In view of the increasing cases of cyber fraud and spam messages, the company is now testing a new safety system. According to new reports, this system will alert users in advance about messages coming from unknown numbers.
You will get a special alert
According to the report of feature tracker WABetaInfo, when a user receives a message from a number which is not saved in the phone, WhatsApp will show a special warning before opening that chat. This will give the user an initial idea of whether that number is trustworthy or not.
This new warning message will include information about which country the phone number is registered in, whether the number is saved in your contacts list, and whether you share any common groups with the sender of the message. Additionally, a safety warning will also appear, such as – “Fraudsters may try to obtain your personal information, passwords, or trick you into sending money.”
After seeing this warning, the user can decide whether to continue the chat or not. Whatever decision the user takes, the sender of the message will not know about it. It is believed that this system will be very helpful in taking decisions safely.
In recent times, cases like online fraud, fake job offers, investment fraud and banking fraud have increased rapidly through WhatsApp. Technology experts believe that this new warning feature will help in providing more protection to the users in such situations.
Meanwhile, there are reports that Meta is also working on some more new features for WhatsApp. These include a special voice notes widget that can be placed directly on the home screen and a ‘View Once’ text message system for iPhone users. All these updates are part of efforts to make the user experience more secure and convenient.
