An important step has been taken to make the education system of government schools in Bihar more transparent and accountable. Now digital attendance (online attendance) will be implemented in the entire state from December.
Under this, a group photograph of the students of each class will be taken through the tablet and the class teacher will upload the attendance of the children on the e-Shiksha Kosh portal through their login ID.
How will the process happen?
Patna District Education Office has prepared the complete outline in this direction. Two tablets each have been provided to primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary schools of the district, while larger schools have also been provided three tablets according to the number of students. Every day the class teacher will take a group photo of the children of his class. These photographs will be taken from all four directions so that each child’s face is clearly visible. It will be mandatory to upload the photographs on the portal on the same day.
Transparency in mid day meal scheme
The biggest objective of this initiative is to stop fraud in the mid-day meal scheme. There have been frequent complaints that the actual number of children in schools is less, but the mid-day meal records show more. Now through the pictures taken from the tablet, it will become clear how many children were actually present and how many took the food.
Teachers’ attendance is also digital
The attendance of teachers will also be recorded under this digital system. One tablet will be used for children’s attendance and mid-day meal activities, while the other tablet will record teachers’ attendance.
Transparency and accountability in the education system
According to Patna District Education Officer, this initiative is being taken with the aim of increasing accountability and bringing transparency in the education system. This will not only make monitoring of teaching work easier, but will also ensure regular attendance of children. With the implementation of this digital system, it is expected to bring new light and discipline in education in the government schools of Bihar.
