Srinivas Mandhana did not get support from his family due to which he could not go ahead in cricket, after which he made a career as a chemical distributor. He trained Shravan Mandhana extensively and he also played in Maharashtra Under 16 Tournament. Smriti Mandhana also became interested in cricket after seeing her elder brother playing cricket. Smriti was only 9 years old at that time and she made her daughter a left handed batsman. He himself corrected many shots of his daughter. Srinivas Mandhana used to take daughter Smriti to practice and bowl to her in the nets. Used to bear the expenses of his travels. Mandhana’s mother took care of her diet. As a result, Mandhana was able to become a next level cricketer.
Made Mandhana focus more on cricket than studies
Both Smriti Mandhana’s studies and cricket were handled well by her father. When Smriti had to choose the science stream at the age of 15, Srinivas and the family gave priority to cricket, because they knew that balancing studies and cricket would be difficult. This decision gave Smriti a chance to make her international debut at the age of 16. On April 5, 2013, Mandhana played a T20 match for India for the first time and thus her father’s dream was fulfilled. Now Smriti’s father runs SM18 Cafe in Sangli in the name of Mandhana from where he inspires the young generation to become great cricketers.
