G20 Summit Updates: The 20th G20 summit in South Africa concluded without an official handover on Sunday. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa did not hand over the gavel (the symbol of presidency) to any American official. It is believed that the host was angry because of US President Donald Trump’s absence from the G20 summit. At the same time, PM Modi met 20 global leaders in Johannesburg. During this, he also clarified the vision of India.

India also made its vision clear in G20. This includes harnessing space technology for all humanity, clean energy with critical minerals and a framework for talent mobility in the age of AI. Earlier, PM Modi also warned the world about misuse of AI. Modi said that the world may suffer huge losses due to misuse of AI. Especially the use of AI in deepfake videos, crime and terrorism is very dangerous.

During the G20 Summit, PM Modi especially held bilateral talks with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. During this, cooperation in trade, culture, investment and technology, skill development, AI, rare earth minerals were discussed.
Why was the G20 tradition broken in South Africa?
This is the first time in South Africa that there has been no hosting handover at the G20 summit. According to reports, US President Donald Trump did not attend the conference, due to which South Africa is angry and that is why for the first time the conference ended without giving the gavel i.e. without handing over the presidency to any other country.
