His role as Sambha in Sholay is still remembered today beacuse of the energy and personality he brought to the character.
Career and Personal Life
Born in Karachi, Mac Mohan moved to Mumbai with dreams of becoming a cricketer but later found his love for acting. He appeared in over 200 films, including classics like Don, Karz, and Zanjeer. He also worked as an assistant director. Mac Mohan married Mini in 1986, and they had three children Manjari, Vinati, and Vikrant. His last film was Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge. He passed away in 2010 due to lung cancer, but his legacy continues through his family.
His daughters, Manjari and Vinati Makijany, are carrying forward his legacy. Manjari is a writer, director, and producer, working in both American and Hindi films. She is Emmy nominated and has directed projects like Netflix’s Skater Girl (2021), Disney Channel’s Spin (2021), and award winning short films such as The Last Marble, The Corner Table, and I See You.
Whereas, Vinati is a producer and actress and has worked on films like My Name Is Khan, The Corner Table, and Skater Girl. She also runs MAC Productions, named in honor of her father.
