Immersion of bones in Ganga

Ganga Mein Asthi Visarjan: In Sanatan Dharma, after the death of a person, his last rites are performed with full rituals. Doing this is not just a traditional part, but it is a deep religious ritual. After this the ashes are immersed in the holy river. Especially the ashes are immersed in the river Ganga. Immersing the ashes in the river Ganga is considered very sacred.

This question also arises in the minds of people that why are ashes immersed in the Ganga? What is the reason that people have been following this tradition for thousands of years and immerse the ashes in the Ganga? Let us know about this in detail.

According to Garun Purana…

Garun Purana is one of the 18 Mahapuranas of Hindu religion. It has been written in detail about the human body and the journey of the soul after death. According to Garun Purana, the human body is made up of five elements i.e. earth, water, fire, air and sky. After death the body merges into these five elements. During the last rites the body is returned to the fire.

After this, the remaining bones are selected and then within 10 days they are immersed in the Ganga. It is believed that the soul attains peace only after immersing the ashes in the Ganges. Then she moves towards the journey to heaven. It is also said in the Puranas that sins are destroyed by immersing the bones in the Ganga. According to beliefs, Ganga came from heaven to earth due to the penance of Bhagiratha.

Ganga river is the giver of salvation

Bhagiratha did this to liberate his ancestors. For this reason the river Ganga is called the giver of salvation. It is also believed that by immersing the bones in Ganga, the deceased not only gets heaven but also Brahmalok. The soul attains that place where the cycle of rebirth ends. He attains a state of ultimate peace.
