Aus vs Eng: Australia defeated England in just two days in the first test of the Ashes series. Australia won on the very second day because of Travis Head’s stormy century. Although Australia won, but due to this stormy batting, Cricket Australia is facing a loss of about Rs 27 crores. According to the report of ABC News, the completion of the match in Perth in just two days is costing Cricket Australia a lot. Actually, tickets for the third and fourth days of this match were sold out.
Cricket Australia was worried
After the fall of 19 wickets on the first day of the Perth Test, Cricket Australia CEO Todd Green had jokingly said that he felt that the match would not be able to go even till the third day and that is exactly what happened. On the first day, the England team collapsed for 172 runs in 32.5 overs. The Australian team could score only 132 runs. He played only 45.2 overs in the second innings.
The result of the match came only on the second day
England’s second innings also collapsed in 34.4 overs. The team scored only 164 runs. In reply, Australia had a target of 205 runs and it seemed that the England team could win on a bowling friendly wicket but Travis Head proved everyone wrong.
Australia’s stunning Perth Test win has set up the Ashes series for the home side, but the two-day finish will be costly for Cricket Australia.
Foregone ticket sales for days three and four at Perth Stadium means Cricket Australia are facing an estimated loss of more than $3
