Dallrajhara -Ravghat Rail Project: Bastar will get railway connectivity from the capital by December 2025. Bastar Dalli Rajhara Rowghat Railway Project Update

The work of Dallirajhra-Rawaghat railway project is moving fast. On completion of December 2025, Bastar will be connected by the capital for the first time, mineral transport will be intensified and new opportunities for employment, investment and development in the area.

Raipur. The work of Dallirajhra-Rawaghat railway project in Bastar district is being completed rapidly. Utility shifting 100% has been completed from Taroki to Rawaghat section (77.5 km) of this 95 km project. The work of laying the track with the construction of large and small bridges is now in the final stages. The goal is to complete this ambitious project by December 2025.

Bastar got railway connectivity from the capital for the first time

After the completion of the project, Bastar will be connected directly from the capital Raipur by rail route for the first time. This will provide better convenience to the passengers, will speed up mineral transport and will get new momentum to social and economic development of Bastar.

Mineral transport will get new direction

This railway line will connect Rawaghat iron ore mines directly to Bhilai Steel Plant. The project will play an important role in meeting the needs of industries and strengthening the economic spine of the region due to lack of iron ore in Dallirajhra mines.

According to Rail Development Corporation Limited-

  • 17.5 km of land acquisition has been completed
  • 21.94 lakh cubic meters of soil work is almost complete
  • 2 out of 3 big bridges are ready
  • 55 out of 61 small bridges have been completed
  • Balest and building construction is expected to be completed by August-September 2025

Challenges coming in construction

This area is affected by leftist extremism, causing the construction work to have been challenging. So far, 4 laborers and 2 security personnel have died in 12 incidents of Naxalite attacks. Many times there was arson in machines and equipment. However, the project has progressed sharply after SSB’s security.

Structure and technical standard

A total of 95 km rail route- 16 major bridges, 19 road over bridge, 45 road under bridge, 176 small bridges. 3 major bridges, 5 road over bridges, 7 road under bridges, 49 small bridges are being built in just 17.5 km long Taroki-Rawaghat section. All tasks are being accompanied by technical accuracy and safety standards, so that the line remains durable and safe for a long time.

Train expected to run in November 2025

Train operations are expected to start on Taroki-Rawaghat section from November 2025. Along with this, new opportunities for mineral transport, employment, local trade and investment will be created in Bastar. This railway line will not only connect Bastar to the mainstream, but will also open a new path of development, employment and prosperity.
