Team India Selection: The second test match between India and South Africa is being played at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati. The second day of play between both the teams continues and the position of the African team is strong. The eyes of cricket fans are fixed on this test, but Sunday is going to be important for another reason also. After the end of the day’s play, Team India’s squad for the 3-match ODI and 5-match T20I series against South Africa will be announced. There is a lot of suspense in the minds of fans regarding who will be made the captain in this selection.

ODI and T20I will start after the test series

Currently, Team India is trailing South Africa 1-0 in the 2-match Test series. It is important to win the Guwahati Test, otherwise the series will be lost. After that the ODI series will start from November 30, in which 3 matches will be played. At the same time, after the ODI, the 5-match T20I series will start from December 9. South Africa has already announced its squad for both formats. Temba Bavuma will captain in ODIs, while Aiden Markram will take charge in T20 Internationals.

Indian squad will be announced in Guwahati

BCCI Chief of Selector Ajit Agarkar along with the entire selection committee is present in Guwahati. The meeting will continue after the second day’s play is over. Till a few days ago, this issue could have been regarding the selection of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, but at the moment it seems that both will get a place in the ODI series. At present, the biggest question in the minds of the selectors is regarding the captain, who should be given the responsibility in the absence of Shubman Gill. Gill is likely to be out of the series due to a neck injury.

Shreyas Iyer is also sitting out due to injury

Another thing that will increase the selection committee’s concerns is that along with Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer is also out due to injury. He could have taken the responsibility of captaincy, but now it is not so. In such a situation, there are limited options in front of him, in which Rohit Sharma should be given back the captaincy for the ODI series against South Africa or KL Rahul should be given this responsibility.

Rishabh Pant can be made captain

Apart from this, Ajit Agarkar also has the option of Rishabh Pant as captain. Pant was a part of Team India’s squad in the Champions Trophy 2025. However, he did not get a chance to play, because KL Rahul was playing as a wicketkeeper/batsman. Now he has returned in the series against South Africa. Not only this, he can take a place in the playing eleven in all three ODI matches. Now its official update is yet to come.
