Bali had received a boon from Lord Brahma that whoever faced him in battle would receive half of his power. Bali was the first great warrior. Bali had got half of the force from his rivals, due to which he became more powerful.

Ravana had also defeated many kingdoms and kings and brought them under his control with his might. Ravana was also blessed that he would not be killed by any god, demon, demon, eunuch, Gandharva, snake, Yaksha or Garuda etc. This boon had filled Ravana with arrogance. When he came to know about the power of Bali, he became jealous of him and went to Kishkindha and challenged Bali for war.

After this there was a fierce war between Ravana and Bali. Due to the boon given to Bali, half of Ravana’s power entered him. After this Ravana’s defeat was certain. Then Bali locked Ravana in prison and started insulting Ravana every day. Every day, Bali started circling in all four directions, holding Ravana close to him. Sa Bali did this for about 6 months.

In the end Ravana apologized to Bali and accepted defeat. Bali also forgave Ravana. Ravana then asked for friendship, which Bali accepted. In this way, after the war, Bali and Ravana became friends.
