Team India captain Shubman Gill’s return to the field may take longer than expected. Gill was out of the series due to a neck injury during the Kolkata Test against South Africa. While Gill himself and Team India were expecting him to play in the Guwahati Test, now it is almost certain that he will be out of the ODI series, while his comeback in the T20 series also seems difficult. According to the latest report, Gill’s injury is not limited to his neck only and he is getting examined by a renowned doctor in Mumbai, where he has currently been given an injection.
Get the test done from Mumbai doctor
After the Kolkata Test, Shubman Gill went to Guwahati despite injury but a day before the match he was declared out of the series. With this, he immediately separated from the team and came straight to Mumbai. Now PTI reports that the Indian captain is currently in Mumbai, where he got examined by renowned spinal injury specialist Dr. Abhay Nene.
Quoting BCCI sources, it has been said that Gill’s injury is not limited to the neck only and that is why Doctor Nene was contacted to check the seriousness of the situation. It has been told in the report that many tests are being done on Shubhman Gill, which also includes MRI. The purpose of these tests is to know whether the gill injury is related only to the muscles or is it more than that. If this happens then they may have to take more rest.
Gill was given an injection
Not only this, BCCI sources have also told that Gill has also been given an injection so that his pain can be reduced to some extent. As far as test reports are concerned, they are being sent directly to selection committee chief Ajit Agarkar. The entire selection committee including Agarkar is currently in Guwahati for the second Test match, where they will select the team for the ODI and T20 series after the second day’s play on Sunday 23 November. The selectors are hopeful that Gill will be fit for the T20 series starting from December 9.
