PM Modi G20 Speech Highlights: The G20 Summit being held for the first time in South Africa has become a historic opportunity for India. In the inaugural session, PM Narendra Modi presented such an agenda to the world, which gave the message of completely changing the thinking of global development. He clearly said that the old development model left crores of people behind and exploited nature. Now is the time for a new beginning in the right direction. With this in mind, PM Modi proposed 3 big, game-changing initiatives to the world, which can prove to be a new hope for the Global South, especially Africa, in the coming years.

1. Global Traditional Knowledge Repository

PM Modi said that there are many communities in the world whose lifestyle is in balance with nature. They have centuries-old sustainable and eco-friendly traditional knowledge. That is why he proposed to create a Global Traditional Knowledge Repository under the G20.

What will this repository do?

  • Will document the world’s traditional lifestyle and knowledge.
  • Will share old, time-tested models of sustainable development with the world.
  • Will preserve this knowledge for future generations.
  • India’s Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) will form the strong foundation of this platform.

2. G20 Africa Skills Multiplier Initiative

PM Modi said that the development of Africa is necessary for the development of the world. With this in mind, he proposed to launch the G20 Africa Skills Multiplier Initiative for the skills revolution in Africa.

What will happen in this?

  • G20 countries will together create a Train-the-Trainer model.
  • 10 lakh certified trainers will be prepared in the next 10 years.
  • These trainers will further provide skills to crores of African youth.
  • This initiative can create employment, education and youth power as the new growth engine in Africa. India’s skill development strength will be a major part of this mission.

3. The game of drugs and terror is over

In the G20 inaugural session, PM Modi also drew attention to a very serious issue. He described the growing threat of deadly synthetic drugs like fentanyl and the vision to dismantle their terrorism-related networks (G20 Initiative on Countering the Drug Terror Nexus). The aim of this initiative is to achieve a global strategy to eliminate drug trafficking and terror networks, curb illicit financial flows, bring modern security and financial tools on one platform and completely stop terrorist funding from the drug trade. PM Modi described drug terror connection as the most dangerous threat to global security.
