Team India’s star spinner Kuldeep Yadav continued his amazing performance in the Guwahati Test after Kolkata. On the first day of the second match of the Test series in Guwahati, South Africa batted strongly but Team India also bowled tightly and left arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav played a big role in it. Kuldeep made Team India’s comeback by taking maximum 3 wickets on the first day, due to which South Africa lost 6 wickets for 247 runs.
The second Test match started from Saturday 22nd November at Barsapara Stadium and with this, Guwahati’s name was added to the Test cricket venues of India. But it was not a good start for Team India because after losing the toss, it had to come out for bowling first and then the South African openers made a strong start. If KL Rahul had not dropped the catch in the 7th over, Team India would not have had to wait for 26 overs for the first success.
Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickleton made an opening partnership of 82 runs for South Africa, which was broken by Jasprit Bumrah on a brilliant ball in the last over of the first session. But the second session itself started with wickets and this time Kuldeep brought success. However, after this, this entire session was also in the name of South Africa, where African captain Temba Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs did not allow any more wickets to fall. However, in the third session, Team India made a comeback and it started with Ravindra Jadeja taking the wicket of Bavuma.
But Kuldeep wreaked real havoc. He first dismissed Stubbs one run before his half-century and then forced Mulder to play a shot on a tempting ball, which proved fatal for the African batsman. However, in the last 45 minutes, the 45-run partnership between Tony DeGeorge and night watchman Senyuran Muthusamy was causing trouble for India, but in the last over, Mohammed Siraj took the wicket of DeGeorge with the new ball.
In this way the first day’s play proved to be equal for both the teams. But the hero of the day was Kuldeep Yadav, who took 3 wickets while giving 48 runs in 17 overs. With this performance, Kuldeep Yadav became the best spinner in the history of Test cricket. Of all the spinners who have taken 50 or more wickets in Test cricket till date, none of them has a better strike rate than Kuldeep. The Indian spinner has taken 75 wickets in 31 innings with the best strike rate of 36.6. In this matter, he left behind former England spinner John Briggs, who had taken 118 wickets in 49 innings at a strike rate of 45.
