It started on November 6, when a decomposed body was found on the roadside on the Bannerghatta-Kaggalipura Road on the outskirts of Bengaluru. There were no injury marks on the body, so the police suspected that it might have been an accidental or natural death. But the story did not stop here. A few hours later, CCTV footage of a nearby private company surfaced, in which a car is visible. The car stops, two people get out, push a body down the road and speed away. Just this footage changes the entire direction of this case.
Who was Dhanraj? Why was tension increasing in the house?
Police investigation revealed that 24 year old Dhanraj had been behaving violently for a long time. Attacking his family, stealing, fighting with neighbors and creating ruckus under the influence of alcohol had become his habit. His elder brother Shivraj, 28, who used to drive a cab in HSR Layout, had been facing all this for many years. Dhanraj had attacked his brother several times. This daily turmoil at home had the biggest impact on Shivraj, who worked as a cab driver in Bengaluru. Police said that he had reached “breaking point” due to his brother’s actions.
How was the murder planned? Job offer becomes bait
On November 2, Shivraj called his younger brother Dhanraj and said that he would get him a job. Dhanraj came to Bengaluru without any doubt. Shivraj reached Bannerghatta-NICE road with his car, along with his friends Sandeep (24) and Prashant (26). Dhanraj, sitting on the front seat, started scrolling on his phone, then the two friends sitting behind caught him and at the same time Shivraj stabbed him with a knife on his neck. Within seconds he died inside the car.

During investigation, the owner of the car whose number was found by the police from CCTV footage turned out to be Shivraj. Location records, mobile data matched. After that Shivraj and his two associates were taken into custody. Knives and mats were also recovered. Now all three accused are in judicial custody.
