Machail Mata Mandir: The temple of Machail Chandi Mata is located in Machail village of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. This temple is known as ‘Machail Mata Temple’. The temple of Machail Mata is dedicated to Durga Maa and is a major pilgrimage for Hindus. This temple is situated at an altitude of 9500 feet.
Devotees come to the temple of Machail Mata in the month of August. An annual journey is organized in August to visit the temple. This is because it is difficult to reach the temple due to cold and snow during the winter months of December, January and February.
This famous temple of Mata is near the tributaries of the Chenab River. Every year thousands of people come to the temple during the ‘Stick Yatra’, which starts from Chinot to Machal in Paddar in Bhadrawah. It takes 2 days for people to walk to the temple.
