Wing Commander Namansh Syal, who died in the crash, was a resident of Himachal Pradesh. Expressing grief over his death in the crash, State Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu himself shared his picture on social media platform X. In it he wrote, “The country has lost a brave, dutiful and courageous pilot. I express my deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family. I pay my heartfelt tribute to the indomitable courage of our brave son Naman Syal ji, his dedication to duty and service to the country.”

Tejas crashed for the second time in 25 years

This is the second time that a Tejas jet has crashed since its initial flight in 2001. Earlier in March 2024, when Tejas crashed in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, the pilot had ejected himself safely. However, while performing acrobatics in Dubai, Tejas suddenly turned downwards and after this, pilot Namansh Syal did not even get a chance to recover.
