Who is Wing Commander Namnash Syal : The Indian Air Force pilot killed in the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA Mk-1) crash at the Dubai Air Show has been identified as Wing Commander Namansh Syal. IAF’s Tejas fighter jet crashed during demonstration at the Dubai Air Show on Friday at around 3:40 pm Indian time. However, initially it was not clear whether the pilot ejected safely or not, but later the Air Force confirmed that he had died in the crash.

Namansh Syal was a resident of Himachal.

Wing Commander Namansh Syal, who died in the crash, was a resident of Himachal Pradesh. Expressing grief over his death in the crash, State Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu himself shared his picture on social media platform X. In it he wrote, “The country has lost a brave, dutiful and courageous pilot. I express my deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family. I pay my heartfelt tribute to the indomitable courage of our brave son Naman Syal ji, his dedication to duty and service to the country.”

Tejas crashed for the second time in 25 years

This is the second time that a Tejas jet has crashed since its initial flight in 2001. Earlier in March 2024, when Tejas crashed in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, the pilot had ejected himself safely. However, while performing acrobatics in Dubai, Tejas suddenly turned downwards and after this, pilot Namansh Syal did not even get a chance to recover.

According to reports, the crashed Tejas aircraft was a single-seater Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The specialty of this jet is that it can be ejected even at very low altitude and low speed. The length of Tejas jet is more than 13 meters. At the same time, its weight is 6500 kg, while the maximum speed is 2205 kilometers per hour. It is capable of carrying payload up to 4000 kg.
