Citroen Basalt Vision Concept Unveiled In Brazil – India Launch Likely?

Citroen has rolled out a new take on its compact coupe-SUV, revealing the Basalt Vision concept in Brazil just ahead of the Sao Paulo Motor Show.

While the name may sound familiar, this is not the Basalt Vision from 2024 simply repainted for the cameras. Citroen has reworked the formula with a noticeably sportier stance, giving the concept a more purposeful look.

The show car sticks to the bright yellow paint seen on earlier Basalt studies, but everything around it has been sharpened. Citroen has fitted deeper bumpers, petal-style 18-inch alloy wheels, red brake callipers and subtle red detailing across the exterior. The concept sits lower than the regular coupe-SUV, further amplifying the more athletic intent. Vision branding on the doors and blacked-out skid plates strengthen the model’s identity as a design-led variant rather than just an accessories package.

Citroen hasn’t released photos of the cabin yet, but the company has confirmed that the concept is based on the highest-spec variant sold in Latin America. That suggests the interior will feature familiar premium touches like dual digital displays, climate control, connected-car features and ventilated seats. Expect a full-black theme inside, matching the extended black roof, dark wheel arches and contrasting red accents outside.

India is already one of the main production hubs for the Basalt, and Citroen recently introduced the Basalt X here with revised styling and a more upmarket interior. The Vision could extend that formula by slotting in as a sportier and unique trim, much like Hyundai’s N Line or Volkswagen’s GT variants.

While the brand hasn’t disclosed mechanical details for the concept, a larger or more powerful engine is being hinted at for Latin America. If the Vision does make its way to India, it will most likely be paired with Citroen’s 110 hp turbo-petrol engine and an automatic gearbox. Pricing for the regular Basalt starts at 7.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Should Citroen green-light the Vision for India, it would give the brand a much-needed halo variant in a segment that increasingly rewards flair.
