With a huge pool of 277 cricket players vying for just 73 spots when the auction takes place in New Delhi on November 27, the player roster for the WPL 2026 Auction has been formally announced.
In comparison to last year’s list of 120 players, the number of registered players has more than doubled, demonstrating the league’s explosive growth.
The eight standout performers are Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh of India, Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr of New Zealand, Sophie Ecclestone of England, Alyssa Healy and Meg Lanning of Australia, and Laura Wolvaardt of South Africa.
There are 194 Indian players on this year’s auction list, 52 of whom are capped and 142 of whom are not. They will fight for 50 of the 73 spots that are available among the five franchises. There are 17 uncapped and 66 capped cricket players among the 83 foreign players vying for the final 23 berths.
The auction becomes a crucial opportunity for rebuilding ahead of the 2026 season, covering vulnerabilities, and restructuring squads because the majority of teams have kept their core from the previous campaign. While lower-ranked teams are under pressure to find the perfect impact players to ignite a turnaround, established teams will try to refine their combinations.
According to the pricing structure, 11 players are in the 40 lakh tier and 19 players are in the highest 50 lakh base-price category. With 88 players, the 30 lakh category is the most congested, indicating fierce competition in the mid-range tier.
Eight of the top women’s cricket players in the world will participate in the high-profile opening round of the auction, which will start at 3:30 PM IST. With a vast talent pool, heightened interest, and teams keen to strengthen ahead of another tough season, the WPL 2026 Auction promises strategic battles, dramatic bidding wars, and the development of squads capable of influencing the league’s future.
