Delhi High Court gives big relief to Gautam Gambhir, his wife Seema and mother

Delhi High Court has quashed the criminal case against Gautam Gambhir and his foundation for illegal storage and distribution of Covid-19 medicines. The court also rejected the summons issued by the lower court. This case was registered under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

Delhi: The Delhi High Court has quashed the criminal case registered against Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir, his foundation and family members for illegal storage and distribution of Covid-19 medicines. In the case, initiated by the Drug Control Department of the Delhi government, a case was registered against Gambhir, his wife Seema, mother, Gautam Gambhir Foundation and its CEO Aparajita Singh under provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

He was also accused of violating Section 18(C) that prohibits selling and distributing drugs without a license. The charges under Section 27(B)(ii) were punishable with imprisonment of three to five years. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna issued this order quashing the summons issued by the lower court. A petition was filed challenging this criminal complaint and summons order.

Supreme Court lawyer Jai Ananth Dehadrai appeared on behalf of Gambhir. The High Court had stayed the proceedings in this case on September 20, 2021. Gambhir responded by saying that he had full faith in the justice system.
