The minister also said that the government is taking positive steps to meet the demands of 78 lakh retired employees under the Employees Pension Scheme (EPS-95).

Inclusion of dearness allowance (DA): Pensioners want DA to be added to their pension to maintain coordination with inflation. Medical facilities for pensioners: The Union Minister has promised to provide free medical facilities to pensioners and their husbands/wife. According to the organization of pensioners, many pensioners have welcomed these assurances due to the government adopting a “positive attitude” on their issues.
Although there is some relief from this assurance of the Union Minister, many senior citizens are still concerned. The Pensioners Association mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Labor Minister had made a similar promise in the past. However, despite these promises, no significant steps have been taken in the last 11 years.
