Islamabad: A heart-wrenching case has come to light in Pakistan. Here a man kept his French wife and five children imprisoned in his house for more than a decade and tortured them extensively. The police have arrested the accused husband. French woman Sylvie Yasmina and her children were rescued by police in a highly daring operation. Yasmina told the police that her husband used to torture her physically and mentally.

The family was confined to a room in a dilapidated house in ‘Bara’, a remote village in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. When the parents looked away, the eldest son somehow escaped from the house and went straight to the police station. On his information the police raided the house. When the police reached there, there were injury marks on the bodies of Yasmina and the children. She was immediately shifted to a women’s shelter home in Peshawar. Now efforts are being made to send them back to France with the help of the French Embassy.

Yasmina told that he came to Pakistan from Australia in 2014. Since then her husband has kept her imprisoned. This family was locked in the same room for 12 years. He was not allowed to meet anyone. Due to imprisonment the elder two children could not complete their studies. At the same time, three small children born in Pakistan were never enrolled in school. The police have not revealed the name of the accused husband due to security reasons.

It is being told that earlier he was living illegally in Australia. There he met French citizen Yasmina. Both of them got married in 2003. He lived in Australia till 2014 and then came to Pakistan with two children. According to Yasmina, after coming to Pakistan, her family was completely cut off from the outside world.
