President Qasim Jomt Tokayev has imposed a ban on wearing a burqa and hijab in the Middle East country Kazakhstan. About 70 percent of the population in Kazakhstan is Muslims. There 25 percent of Christians, four percent of Buddhists, Jews, Bahai and Hindu religion live. One to two per cent of Kazakhstan has citizens who consider themselves an atheist.
Arabic word is a burqa
Burka is an Arabic word, which has been used since the seventh century. In fact, the word burqa was used for a cover or women’s shawl to completely protect animals from the cold. It is believed that for the first time Burka was worn in Persia (Iran). Along with the propagation of Islam in this region, Persian culture also became included in Islamic culture. Experts say that the hijab is used in place of the word burqa in Islamic religious books, which means curtain or curtain action. Over time, the Persian Muslims adopted Burka as an Islamic culture.
The burqa covers any person from head to feet. In this, open space is left for hands and only to see. It is usually made of light clothes and is black or blue. There is no need to wear a burqa in the presence of family members at home. However, the burqa is loose. This cannot be of tight fitting.
Curtain practice was not initially in Arabia
There is a dispute at different times in different countries about the burqa. It has been banned in most western countries. In India too, there has been a dispute about banning the burqa at educational institutions and other sites.
In media reports, well-known historian Professor Irfan Habib has been quoted as saying that the curtain was treated in Islam, but earlier there has been a historical evidence of Pardadari in Greek civilization. According to Irfan Habib, initially women had freedom in Arabia and there was no curtain in the civilization there. The curtain practice actually began during the time of Prophet Mohammad Saheb.
Many Muslim countries have imposed restrictions
Kazakhstan is not the first Muslim country to ban the burqa. Burka and hijab etc. are banned in many Muslim countries of the world. These countries include the names of Muslim countries like Algeria, Tunisia Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Chad. Apart from this, there has been a dispute about burqa and hijab in many countries of Europe. After this, it has been banned by making strict laws in many countries.
France first imposed ban in Europe
The first country in Europe was France, which banned wearing burqas in public places. First, in 2004, any religious symbol of students was banned in French government schools. Then in April 2011, the French government banned the mask covering the entire face. France has a fine of 150 euros for violating this ban. At the same time, if another person forces a woman to cover his face, then she is fined 30,000 euros.
At the same time, in March 2021, Switzerland has banned public places from wearing a scarf on the head. This ban also includes the burqa and mask of Muslim women. For this, the constitution there has been amended. At the same time, there is a ban on wearing religious symbols of government employees sitting in official positions in a state of Canada.
Despite the dispute in these countries, ban
In 2011, Belgium banned wearing burqa or mask in public places. The matter reached the court regarding this, but in the year 2017, the European Human Rights Court justified the Belgian ban. Now violating it in Belgium can be fined or seven days in jail. At the same time, Burka was banned for the first time in Denmark in August 2018. After this, the dispute started and hundreds of people marched and demonstrated in Copenhagen. However, Denmark’s law even imposes a fine for breaking this ban.
In Sri Lanka, on 29 April 2021, any type of veil has been banned in public places by implementing a new law. In the year 2017, the Parliament of Germany and Austria has also banned such clothes by enacting laws. However, this ban in Germany is only for judges, civil servants and soldiers. At the same time, in the year 2017, China has also banned the long beard along with burqa and veil.
