The Municipal Corporation is on alert regarding possible floods and waterlogging. Commissioner Brijesh Singh Kshatriya gave instructions for monitoring, relief and drainage in sensitive areas.
Raigarh. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Brijesh Singh Kshatriya organized a review meeting of flood disaster management to effectively deal with the possible flood and waterlogging situation in the city. In the meeting, all those sensitive areas of the city where there is a possibility of waterlogging during rains were reviewed in detail. The Commissioner instructed the concerned officers and employees to work with complete vigilance and activeness.
Special deployment of officers in waterlogging prone areas
Commissioner Shri Kshatriya gave instructions to impose duty of nominated officers and employees in other sensitive areas including Paithudbari, Navapara, Chiranjeevi Das Nagar, Rambhatha, Beladula Khetpara, Baijnath Modi Nagar, Tendudipa Khetpara, Shivam Vihar and Bhagwanpur. He said that in view of the forecast of the Meteorological Department and the continuous rain, all the officers should maintain constant vigil in their respective areas and in case of any emergency, immediately start relief and rescue operations.
Instructions for continuous monitoring and immediate action during rains
In the meeting, the Commissioner directed all the sanitation inspectors, revenue staff and sub-engineers to regularly inspect the identified areas in case of bad weather or heavy rains. He said that on receiving any information about waterlogging, the concerned officers should immediately reach the spot and take necessary action to solve the problem. Quick response should be ensured while giving top priority to the safety and convenience of citizens.
Emphasis on coordination between departments in flood disaster management
In the meeting, officials of various departments related to flood disaster management, engineers, revenue employees and personnel related to sanitation system were instructed to work with mutual coordination. Besides, it was also asked to provide immediate relief and rescue arrangements if necessary. Throughout the monsoon period, emphasis was laid on keeping special vigil in sensitive areas and providing a safe and comfortable environment to the citizens.
Safety of citizens in monsoon is first priority of Municipal Corporation
Commissioner Shri Brijesh Singh Kshatriya said that keeping citizens safe during monsoon and providing relief from waterlogging is the top priority of the Municipal Corporation. He said that all officers and employees should discharge their duties with full responsibility and vigilance. Any disaster situation can be effectively controlled by prior preparation, constant monitoring and timely action.
He also said that if there is a situation of continuous rain or excessive rainfall then the drainage system will be further strengthened. For this, the entire staff of the Municipal Corporation will be active in the field so that the citizens do not have to face any kind of problem.
Technical survey will be done of waterlogged places after the first rain.
The Commissioner directed all the engineers to immediately survey and evaluate the places where water accumulated during the first rain on Tuesday evening. Technical testing of each waterlogging point should be done and a permanent solution should be prepared so that such problems do not recur in future and people can get relief.
Instructions for construction of raw drains and removal of encroachment
To reduce the problem of waterlogging, the Commissioner directed to construct raw drains as per requirement, develop drainage routes and take action as per rules against encroachments that obstruct water flow. He asked to pay special attention to regularly monitoring the cleaning work of drains and drains and maintaining the smooth functioning of the drainage system.
