Indian boxers are completely dominating in the World Boxing Finals 2025 being played in Greater Noida. 20 boxers from India took part in this tournament which started from 16th November, out of which 10 were female and 10 were male boxers. Out of those 20 Indian boxers, 15 boxers reached the finals, out of which 3 have won gold medals. Meenakshi Hooda, Preeti Pawar and Arundhati Reddy were among those who scored a hat-trick of gold medals for India.
India’s daughters scored a hat-trick of gold medals
The first gold medal for India was won by Meenakshi Hooda, daughter of an auto driver. He won gold in the 48 kg category by defeating the boxer from Uzbekistan. After Meenakshi, India got the gold medal from Preeti’s Punch, who defeated the Italian boxer in the 54 kg category. Arundhati Reddy won the third gold for India by punching gold in the 70 kg weight category world.
An eye on Nikhat Zareen’s final also
Among the 8 Indian women boxers who reached the finals of the World Boxing Finals, the biggest name is Nikhat Zareen, who has been world champion twice. Nikhat, who returned through the World Championship in September after being out of action for a year due to shoulder injury, defeated Janiva Gulsevar of Uzbekistan in a tough semi-final match in the 51 kg category. Now she will face Guo Yi Xuan of Chinese Taipei in the final. This will be the first time after February 2024 that Nikhat Zareen will be seen finishing on the podium in a boxing event.
Nikhat, who won the World Championship in Delhi two years ago, said that she is happy that her medal account is open after the Paris Olympics. Now he has to go to win the gold medal.
These 15 boxers will enter the ring
Apart from Nikhat Zareen, the Indian boxers who will be seen playing the finals of the World Boxing Championship Finals include the names of Jasmine Lamboria, Jadumani Singh M, Pawan Bartwal, Sachin Siwach, Hitesh Gulia, Ankush Fungal, Parveen and Nupur.
57 kg world champion Jasmine had defeated former Asian youth champion Uljahan Sarsenbek of Kazakhstan 5-0. Earlier, Jadumani had defeated Australia’s Umar Ijaz in the men’s 50 kg semi-finals.
The hope is that all the 15 Indian boxers will give the country a chance to dance in the World Boxing finals. And will fill India’s bag with gold medals.
