Kashmir Times office raided in Jammu, AK-47 cartridges recovered; FIR filed against editor

SIA of Jammu and Kashmir Police raided Jammu office of Kashmir Times on charges of anti-national activities. Weapon cartridges and grenade levers were found during the search. Editor Anuradha Bhasin is accused of promoting separatism.

Srinagar/New Delhi. The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday raided the office of Kashmir Times in Jammu on charges of promoting activities against the country. According to police sources, Ak-47 cartridges, pistol rounds and three grenade levers were recovered during the search. The raid operation is still going on.

FIR registered against editor Anuradha Bhasin

An FIR has also been registered against Kashmir Times Executive Editor Anuradha Bhasin for allegedly spreading disaffection, glorifying separatism and threatening the sovereignty and territorial integrity of India and the Union Territory. According to sources, the SIA team reached the newspaper office on Residency Road in the morning and searched for several hours. The team closely examined the documents and digital devices. SIA has registered a case against the newspaper under FIR number 02/2025 under section 13 related to illegal activities. Sources said the purpose of the investigation is to probe his alleged links and activities, which threaten India’s sovereignty.

Action taken under anti-terror operations

SIA says that this action has been taken as part of anti-terror operations. An FIR has been registered against the newspaper and its promoters, including its editor Anuradha Bhasin, under Section 13 of the UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act). It is alleged that the newspaper has been involved in spreading discontent against the country and promoting anti-national activities. According to reports, SIA will soon interrogate editor Anuradha Bhasin. He will be questioned about his activities, contacts and his role in the alleged ‘propaganda network’. Officials say that other people associated with the newspaper may also be interrogated in the coming days.

It was started by Ved Bhasin and was published as a weekly newspaper in 1954, which was converted into a daily newspaper in 1964.
