New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday visited his childhood school, Handidhua Primary School in Talcher, Odisha, and shared an emotional message on social media. He said the school campus, which gave him basic education, dreams, and values, still holds a special place in his heart.
During his visit, he inaugurated a smart classroom, hygienic kitchen, renovated building, and dining hall. As part of the 76th Van Mahotsav 2025, he also planted a tree under the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” (A Tree in Mother’s Name).

Calling it a deeply emotional and spiritual experience, Pradhan said that the kind of holistic, rooted, and future-ready education system envisioned under the New National Education Policy (NEP) will begin from such schools. He stressed that education should not just be about exams, but about building character and the nation.
He also praised the spark he saw in the eyes of the students at Handidhua school, saying that their bright futures will help shape a developed India by 2047.
