Su-57: India’s closest friend Russia has agreed to provide it with fifth generation Su-57 stealth fighter jets. Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Russian company Rostec, said during the Dubai Air Show that they will also transfer the technology of Sukhoi-57 to India unconditionally. Let us tell you that this Russian jet is considered to compete with America’s F-35.
A big diplomatic victory for India
Let us tell you that Russia has announced to provide Sukhoi-57 jets to India at a time when Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has recently met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Let us tell you that Putin himself is going to visit India in December. Su-57 is designed in such a way that it can easily penetrate enemy radar. That means its reconnaissance is not easy.
Russia has not yet given the technology of Su-57 to anyone
Let us tell you that Russia has not yet given the technology of its fifth generation fighter jet Su-57 to anyone. Even its most trusted partner China has not received this yet. India is the first country with which Russia is going to share this technology. Let us tell you that after getting this technology, India can make its own Su-57 version in future.
What are the benefits of technology transfer?
Let us tell you that transferring the technology of fighter jet is no small matter for any country. Even America never transfers it from any country. If the country purchasing fighter jets also gets its technology, then in future there is no dependency on the manufacturing country for its maintenance, repair, spare parts and upgrades. India has American C-17 and C-130J transport aircraft, but they cannot be upgraded in India due to lack of technology transfer. Their equipment also has to be imported from America.
What are the features of Su-57?
Sukhoi-57 is a twin-engine stealth fighter jet developed by Russia. These fighter aircraft are capable of air combat as well as ground and sea attacks. The first Su-57 joined the Russian Aerospace Forces in December 2020. Apart from AESA radar, Sukhoi-57 is equipped with modern avionics. Su-57 can be fitted with air-to-air missiles such as R-77M, R-74M2 and R-37. Apart from this, air-to-surface and anti-ship missiles can also be installed in it. It has hypersonic weapons and 30mm auto-cannon. It can carry heavy payload.
Why is Russia’s SU-57 overshadowing America’s F-35?
Talking about Russia’s SU-57, its length is more than 65 feet, whereas the length of America’s F-35 is around 51 feet. The Sukhoi-57 is 15 feet long, while America’s F-35 is a little more than 14 feet. The maximum speed of SU-57 is 2135 km/h, while that of F-35 is 1960 km/h.
