BJP attacked Congress after Congress criticized Shashi Tharoor for praising PM Modi’s speech. BJP said, there is no democracy in Congress party. Tharoor praised Modi’s speech for eradicating the “slavery mentality” and restoring Indian pride.
New Delhi. BJP has hit out hard at Congress for criticizing Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor after praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech. The BJP said there is no democracy in the Congress and the party issues a “fatwa” against leaders who put national interest above family interests. In fact, after Shashi Tharoor praised PM Modi, Congress leader Supriya Shrinet said that she did not find anything “commendable” in the Prime Minister’s speech. Describing the speech as trivial, he said that he could not understand what the Congress MP liked about it.
There is no democracy in the Congress which talks about democracy across the country.
Just a few days after NDA’s massive victory in Bihar elections, Shashi Tharoor had praised Prime Minister Modi’s statement in an event. Responding to the Congress’ comment on this, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said, “If anyone praises the Prime Minister’s speech, which is on major issues, then the Congress, which talks about democracy in the entire country, but there is no democracy in their party.” The BJP also said that the Congress should be expanded as ‘Indira Nazi Congress’ as this party “shows Indira’s emergency mentality and Nazi dictatorial behaviour”.
Tharoor said, despite cold and cough, PM looked happy among the people
In a post shared on X, Shashi Tharoor had praised Prime Minister Modi’s speech given at the sixth Ramnath Goenka lecture. He had said that despite suffering from cold and cough, he is happy to be present among the audience. Tharoor said in his post, “Prime Minister Modi said that he has been accused of being in “election mood” all the time, but in reality he was in “emotional mood” to solve the problems of the people.
PM Modi had emphasized on ending the mentality of slavery
Shashi Tharoor particularly emphasized Prime Minister Modi’s reference to Thomas Macaulay and his call to Indians to free the country from the mentality of slavery. He further wrote, “A significant part of PM Modi’s speech focused on reversing Macaulay’s 200-year-old legacy of “slavery mentality”. Prime Minister Modi appealed for a 10-year national mission to restore pride in India’s heritage, languages and knowledge systems.”
